ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

It has taken just one generation to entirely change the way we experience and consume media. The passive and peripheral audience of yore is now active and central, like Narcissus all drawn to the internet. McLuhan foresaw this about four decades ago, the state of being constantly connected in the global village. User generated content,

the audience distributor, curator, arbiter, the openness of internet; the personalized

content and the media environment turning ambient are some of the exponential

changes we are witnessing today. As mass media students and researchers we are

drawn to the interesting questions that arise from this changing mediascape and its

audiences.
