Three year integrated Under-Graduate courses leading to a degree in Bachelor of Mass Media  [B.M.M.]. We have 2 divisions with a capacity of 60 Students each.

Dr. Mrs. Anju Kapoor, Principal

Dr. Anju Kapoor, the Principal of SVKM’s Usha Pravin Gandhi College of Management has a teaching experience of 25 years and holds a doctorate in Applied Psychology from the University of Mumbai. 

Dr. Kapoor started a counselling Centre called “Cheers 2 US” at Subodh Mehta Medical Centre, in 2010 offering vocational & Personal Counselling services. She is presently consultant to Eduabroad for handling academic counselling for Indian education. She was a Reader at the National College for more than two decades. She was also the Vice Principal at Mithibai College of the Unaided Section for three years. Dr. Kapoor has completed teaching assignments at Faculty Exchange Program at the University of Georgia, Atlanta, U.S.A.

Dr. Kapoor has contributed to the academia in innumerable ways. Apart from authoring seven books with both international and national publishers, she has been to several international and national conferences, seminars, workshops and symposia where she has presented research papers.  

Dr. Mrs. Navita Kulkarni, Asst.Prof

Member of Board of Studies, Mass Media, University of Mumbai,  Dr. Navita Kulkarni has done her Masters in Mass communication and Journalism and has completed her Doctorate in Journalism. She has cleared her State Eligibility Test (SET) and was a University topper for Bachelor of Journalism and Communication.

Dr. Navita has over 15 years of teaching experience. She has worked for  daily 'Maharashtra Herald' Pune as a correspondent and also worked as a sub-editor for Marathi daily 'Lokpatra'. She has also worked as a stringer for Indian Express, Kohlapur.

She was appointed as a Ph.D guide for Mass Communication & Journalism by JIT University, Rajasthan. Participated in National Seminar and received an Excellence award 2011 for the services rendered to Indian society.

Mrs. Madhuvanti Date, Asst.Prof

Prof. Date is a gold medalist of Philosophy (M.A.) and has been a topper of the University of Mumbai for her graduation as well as post-graduation exam.

She has cleared SET as well as NET examination along with Junior Research Fellowship. Mrs. Madhuvanti is a faculty at BMM at UPG with 16 years of teaching experience.

She has completed her MBA (PGDHRM) approved by Distance Education Council, Central Govt. of India from Wellingkar's Institute of Management and Research.

She is an exponent of classical Indian dance, Bharat Natyam and has represented India for the Indian folk dance festival held in France and Spain.


She has co-authored a book on Communication Skills for F.Y.B.Sc.(I.T.) as per the new revised syllabus of Mumbai University w.e.f. Academic Year 2016-2017

Mrs. Rashmi Gahlowt, Co-ordinator, Asst.Prof


Prof Mrs. Rashmi Gahlowt, the Coordinator of B.M.M. is a Gold Medalist in M.Sc.(Mass Communication and Technology). She has cleared her National Eligibility Test in Mass Communication and Journalism .

She has worked for Hindustan Times newspaper in New Delhi. She has been freelancing as a content developer and editor for educational portals, also worked as dialogue writer for shows on Zee TV.

She has worked as a content writer and editor for lifestyle portals. She has authored and presented papers on various subjects and themes like mass media, civic issues, and english literature at various National and International platforms and authored a book titled "Introduction to Media Psychology".

Prof Divya Nambiar

Ms. Divya Nambiar is a Master's Degree holder in Mass Communication and Journalism as well as Sociology from University of Mumbai.

She cleared National Eligibility Test and Maharashtra State Eligibility Test in Mass Communication and Journalism.

Before stepping into the field of education, she was working with the Free Press Journal newspaper (one of the oldest newspapers in India) for over two years as a sub-editor.

She was commended by the Royal Commonwealth Society of London twice for her essays. Her final year MA research found its way into Convergia, a multidisciplinary research journal.

Opting for Science in Standard 11 was the biggest mistake of her life, according to her. But because she considers every mistake to be an experience, she aims to mould the students to make them feel content and not just competitive in the industry that they plan to be a part of.

She is an avid reader and contributes book reviews and other feature pieces to the Free Press Journal newspaper.

Mr. Ashish M.Mehta, Asst.Prof

Dedicated, Dynamic and Zestful are some of the adjectives that aptly describe Mr. Ashish Mehta. He has two years’ experience in marketing for V.I.P luggages and Mordena chairs. He has been an academician for more than a decade now. He has consecutively been in an Editor-in-chief’s chair for four years for college Annual magazine “Uth Eye”. He is Masters in commerce with Business Management specialisation and another bachelor’s degree in education, B.Ed., with English and commerce as his majors. He is awarded by lions club of India with a trophy and a certificate for the “BEST TEACHER” for the year 2014. He is currently coordinating Value Added courses like Digital Media Marketing, Digital Photography, Basics in Film making and Graphic Designing at SVKM’s Usha Pravin Gandhi college of Management successfully. He has been instrumental in editing and shaping the research publication “Chronicle 2015”. Mr. Mehta got students creative work edited and compiled in the form of an ISBN bearing publication called “Flourishing Minds”.

Mr. Mayur Sarfare, Asst.Prof

Mr. Mayur S Sarfare is a Master’s degree holder in the field of Communication and Journalism, who was working with India's leading PR firm for close to two years until his scholarly bent and affinity towards communication theories finally made him venture into the field of academics. His has been associated Usha Pravin Gandhi College of Management for over a year and half as part of the B.M.M department in the capacity of an Assistant Professor. His forte includes subjects such as Cultural studies and Mass Media Research. He also holds the distinction of having come third in the State Eligibility Test held across the entire state of Maharashtra.

Prof. Bulbul Bhattacharjee,Visiting Faculty

Prof. Bulbul Bhattacharjee has close to 30 years of industry experience with International Airline- Air India, in the Finance department, where she has majorly worked in a managerial capacity. She has been a Brand consultant with a realty firm for a considerably long period of time. She has drawn all of her industry experience and injected it into the teaching field where she has been breaking new grounds for the last 15 years. She has taught subjects ranging from Brand Building to Communication skills. She has authored couple of books in the subject of Brand Building and Understanding Cinema for BMM students.

Prof. Archana Mehra,Visiting Faculty

Prof. Archana Mehra has close to 12 years of teaching experience. She possess a profound knowledge of the English language. She is known for creating a classroom atmosphere which is comfortable as well as stimulating.  She has worked in the capacity of a Coordinator in the BMM department with RD National College for over 3 years. She has also been an effective soft skills trainer with UPG College for the last 3 years. She has worked as a copywriter with Clamar Advertising during her formative years. 

Prof. Shreya Bhandary,Visiting Faculty

Shreya Bhandary works as a Special Correspondent with the Hindustan Times (Mumbai).

With special focus on higher education institutes, her work revolves around the new policies introduced by the University and other institutes including TISS and IIT-Bombay.

She has taught subjects ranging from Creative Writing to Editing in various esteemed institutes.

She has worked as a Principal Correspondent and Senior Correspondent in Midday Infomedia and The Times of India respectively.

She has done her Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism from the Times School of Journalism.

She is a voracious reader and follows music across genres.

Prof. Deeksha Chamola,Visiting Faculty

Prof. Deeksha Chamola works primarily as a Course Coordinator and Assistant Professor in Mass Media department at Mithibai College. She has been the convenor of film society and the coordinator of media festival –Paparazzi.

She possess a teaching experience of over 7 years during which she has worked as a Lecturer and as an Assistant Professor in various reputed institutes.

She has a presented papers such as ‘Challenges to Journalism Education’, ‘Media and Globalization; and ‘Social Media and Marketing’ at various conferences held nationwide.

She is presently pursuing her Ph.D in Journalism and Mass Communication from the Indira Gandhi National Open University.

Prof. Jigyasa Taneja Sethi,Visiting Faculty

Prof. She has been a recognized writer and director for various leading production houses in India. She has held the position of an Associate Creative Head with Balaji Telefilm as well as has overseen the casting and production processes. In the field of academics, she has been associated with the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Delhi University as a Full Time Lecturer. She has also been the selection panel of Fulbright Scholarships India. She has taught subjects like Understanding Cinema and Sociology to media students.

Prof. Arshad Tejani,Visiting Faculty

Arshad Tejani has worked majorly as a faculty in the BMM department of National College. He simultaneously moonlights as a freelancer with Link Printers.

He has worked and interacted with many successful people in the field of Media, Theatre, Real Estate and Publishing. He has also worked in the capacity of a Sales Manager at Sheffield Real Estate in Dubai.

He has acquired a diploma in Journalism and Advertising from Radio Bhuvan in 2002.

Prof.Vahid Kapadia, Visiting Faculty

Vahid Kapdia possess a teaching experience of close to 15 years in various colleges. He has been teaching computer related subjects such as ‘Advanced computers’ and ‘Introduction to Computers’ in the course of BMM. Vahid has been associated with UPG college for the last 6 years.

Dr.Meghana Kothari,Asst.Prof

Meghana Kothari is a renowned psychologist who has headed the BMM Department at R.D National College for over 5 years. She has done her Phd in ‘Alternate Medicine’. She is one of those rare professors who has taught at an undergraduate and graduate level. At an undergraduate level she has taught subjects ranging from Psychology to Mass Communication. At a post graduate level she has lectured on subjects like Personality Psychology and Psychotherapy. She also possess professional experience in the field of Psychiatry. She has worked as a Psychologist at various mental hospitals in Mumbai. She has held the position of a Psychologist at NARC De-addiction centre.

Prof. Abhijeet Kini,Visiting Faculty

Abhijeet Kini, founder of Abhijeet Kini Studios, is a Mumbai based illustrator, animator and independent comics publisher, known for his comic series "Angry Maushi" and "Fanboys". He has been nominated in multiple categories at the Indian Comic Con awards, and is the artist for the award winning series "Dental Diaries". Abhijeet has been a regular participant in all the Indian comic cons and has also participated in international editions. He started off with freelancing for Mid-Day multimedia, in the year 2000 while in his first year BMM, as a cartoonist and writer. Along with cartooning for magazines and newspapers like Timesgroup, Hindustan Times, Timeout Mumbai, Timeout Delhi, Khaleej Times, National Geographic Traveller, Verve and the likes for for almost 2 decades, he is a regular illustrator with Tinkle comics since 2004.Abhijeet has been conducting workshops across all age groups on ideation, creative writing and drawing and comic making and is also a visiting faculty at Whistling Woods International, teaching animation, comics, media studies, etc
